“It is one of the shows where, across a lot of categories, you always hear people saying, ‘How can I get involved?’” said Brent Poer, exec VP-managing director at Publicis Groupe’s MediaVest.
Although requests from advertisers have ramped up in recent months, “we turn down, I would say, about 90%” of them, said Steven Levitan, one of the comedy’s executive producers and creators. “We get offers constantly. We do very few. We try to be extremely selective.” Mr. Levitan said the show will attempt one to three of these integrations per season, perhaps more if the story takes the cast to a remote location.

Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are among the actors who will join Academy Award winner George Clooney in the March 3 Los Angeles reading of Dustin Lance Black’s docudrama 8, according to the L.A. Times.
As previously reported, Clooney (“The Descendants,” “Syriana”) will play David Boies, one of the attorneys for the plaintiffs in the Perry v. Schwarzenegger case, which sought to overturn the voter-approved Prop 8 measure, denying same-sex couples the right to marry.
Rob Reiner will direct the staged reading at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. All proceeds from the reading will benefit efforts for marriage equality across the U.S.
Morrison (“Glee,” Hairspray, The Light in the Piazza) will play plaintiff Paul Katami, with fellow “Glee” cast member Lynch as National Organization for Marriage co-founder Maggie Gallagher. Jamie Lee Curtis (“A Fish Called Wanda,” “True Lies”) is set to play plaintiff Sandy Stier.
The cast of ABC’s Modern Family has a message to the anti-gay protesters who set up shop across the street from the site of Sunday’s 69th annual Golden Globes: “You’re an idiot.”
Speaking to reporters backstage after picking up its first Globe for best comedy, cast members Ferguson and Julie Bowen noted the positive feedback about the show’s gay couple they’ve received from all corners of the world.
“I come from a long line of straight, white Republicans who don’t like people like this,” she said, motioning to the openly gay Ferguson. “But even they like this show. In country clubs all across America, the doors are cracking open.”
Ferguson, meanwhile, said he’s received feedback from families thanking him for the positive portrayal. “We don’t try to be too heavy-handed with it but I think it’s opening up people’s minds and hearts,” he said. “It’s a good thing.”
On next week’s Modern Family, toddler Lily is going to use one of the worst of George Carlin’s famous Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.
The adopted two-and-a-half year-old character somehow picks up the profanity “f—.” This naturally horrifies her parents, Cam and Mitchell, who in particular fear she’ll blurt it at an upcoming wedding. Lily is shown saying the word, but it’s not audible to the viewer. The episode’s title: “Little Bo Bleep.”
It might be the first time in a scripted family broadcast TV series where a child has said the F-word.
Creator Steve Levitan revealed the story line during an ABC comedy showrunner panel at the network’s press-tour presentation in Pasadena. “We had to really convince ABC,” Levitan told EW.com after the panel. “We thought it was a very natural story since, as parents, we’ve all been through this. ABC will tell you Modern Family gets away with a lot, because I think it’s all about context. We are not a sexually charged show. It has a very warm tone so people accept it more. I’m sure we’ll have some detractors.” Source
Greg: You’ve been holding out on the Modern Family scoop! Sharing is caring!
Manny (Rico Rodriguez) is getting a love interest! Well, another crush, to be more precise. The show is looking for a very pretty girl (seriously, she must be a knockout because she doesn’t talk!) for Manny to attempt to woo in an upcoming episode.
Q: Do you hang out with your costars very often?
Always. I give Rico [Rodriguez] and Nolan [Gould] advice on how to talk to girls or help them out with schoolwork. It’s cool to be on the show with other kids because we’re all going through the same things.
Q: Why has the show become such a hit?
For us, it’s a real family, and I think people see that love and chemistry. Everybody leaves the set like, “Oh, I had an amazing day with my family today.”
Q: Any hobbies?
I’m always watching movies and TV shows with Netflix. I use my Wii, so it’s really fun. I’m streaming The Office, and I just watched The September Issue.
