TV Guide asked Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ty Burrell to tease the upcoming season’s scenes they’re most anxious for us to see. Read below! Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell): “We did a great scene with Nathan Lane. If that’s not gay enough already, we’re all wearing Oscar Wilde outfits in the scene. You know, general 18th Century garb. He’s playing our old flamboyant friend Pepper who is throwing his Oscar Wilde and Crazy brunch. He was so good. It turns out he was really trying to get on the show. He loves it and was even quoting obscure lines from past episodes.” Ty Burrell (Phil): “I have another encounter with the steps in our house, which was very fun to revisit. In the finale we made an attempt to fix them, and we’re going to readdress that.” |

Modern Family is now Emmy family. The comedy about an extended, multi-generational family was judged to be TV’s best comedy at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Modern Family also won Emmys for its writing and for supporting actor Eric Stonestreet. “All I wanted to be, when I was growing up, was a clown in the circus,” a visibly overwhelmed Stonestreet said. “A lot of people say, ‘Don’t pursue acting for a living; it’s too difficult.’ It is difficult. . . . But this is amazing.” The list of winners is below. Our congratulations to the cast and creators of the show for these well-deserved awards.

We keep getting more scoop on season 2! Here is what we should expect from Alex and Haley, Phil, Cameron and Lily: Alex (Ariel Winter) is getting several storylines this year. Ariel says, “Alex gets a little friend who probably will develop into something more. Alex is turning into a teenager and maybe more of the popular girl. She’ll still be the know-it-all, the smart aleck, but she’s just going to be a little popular.” Ooh, and what does big sis Haley (Sarah Hyland) think of that? “I don’t think Alex really cares what her big sister thinks. I think once she becomes top dog in her school, it’s going to be, ‘Hey, I’m as cool as me now so you can’t say anything. I can still make fun of you, but you can’t make fun of me.’ ” And exclusive, context-free scoop! In an upcoming episode, Phil has this line: “Sorry, I burnt my ladyfingers.” In other Pritchett news, who would watch a documentary series about Cameron as an overbearing stage parent? We’ll get a taste of that program when Lily lands a small role in a commercial that pays homage to a classic B movie. |

Modern Family’s co-creator and writer Steve Levitan has revealed that producers are preparing a ‘public display of affection’ episode for the programme’s married gay couple, Cam and Mitchell. ‘We’ve had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject,’ he told E! news. ‘So it almost bothers us that there was a little bit of controversy about it. Because we don’t want to appear that we’re answering the criticism.’ Here’s what Emmy nominees Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet just said about it… “Don’t expect a Gone With the Wind type of thing happening, I know the fans would like that,” Ferguson said. “We’re doing an episode about Mitchell’s fear of PDA, so it’s not the kiss episode per se, but yeah. It’s going to be a really poignant, beautiful thing but less of an ordeal than people think it is.” Stonestreet added that we’ll most likely see the highly anticipated liplock on the second season’s fourth episode, saying, “It’s a sweet moment for our show, not just a sweet moment for Mitch and Cam.” |

It’s Saturday, Aug. 21 and time for the Creative Arts Emmys, held a week and a day before the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast. It’s the awards event that honors the people behind the scenes who deserve recognition, but apparently didn’t make the cut to be on the already overflowing live event. The Modern Family winners:
